“I was lucky enough to have a family with strong faith. My mom basically always had that strong faith. She had sort of a big revival movement amongst her youth group when she was in her teens that lit a fire for her where she really took her faith to the next level. She definitely kept going with that and didn’t let it die. She was devout in her faith, and my father was very devout, as well. One thing my dad would never miss every day was sitting down and reading his Bible. He would sit down and read scripture any time from 10 minutes to 45 minutes and pray. He would do it in this far corner of the living room, not trying to make a big deal about it. As a kid, I wouldn’t think much of it, but as I grew older, I realized it’s a really good memory to have ingrained in my head: my dad in the corner spending time in the Word every night. Whether it had been a great day or a rough day, he was always steadfast in that. So early in my life I guess that stuff rubbed off on me – whether I realized it or not.”

“I’m thankful for a consistent church presence. I feel like going to church every week, even as a kid, gave me the right head knowledge at an early age. I prayed to accept Christ when I was six. My mom says she knows that was young, but that I truly knew what I was doing. I remember feeling I processed it really well, you know, as well as a six year old could. I never really wavered from that. We all grow up and go through some tough times, but I definitely always identified as a Christian and still do to this day and try to continue to grow my faith more and more and more.”

“I thank God every day that I was born into a family where I didn’t have to go out late in life and find out about the Gospel on my own. I think that’s something that so many people take for granted. When you just grow up in it and it becomes a thing that is always there. It’s a blessing, and it can be a curse, depending on how you treat it. In this case, it was definitely a blessing. I make sure that I thank God regularly for that because it sure beats the alternative.”
